Paris, Notre Dame

While sitting on the Pont des Arts (see below) a Maria procession passed under us. A little later, as we walked along the Siene towards the Notre dame, the procession floated by. 13 boats with pilgrims, a blue lighted Maria statue in artificial smoke, singing pilgrims, and loud prayers by the Bishop of Paris. And the brightly lit Notre Dame in the background (it was late evening). Quite surrealistic.
15 Augustus s' avonds: een Mariaprocessie op de Seine, net toen we voorbij de Notre dame wandelden.

Wonderful image. I really like the black and white. You should go to the Cafe Le Select while you are there and sketch with Rick Tulka.

Actually, when I was there I tried to remember how the Cafe was called, but it slipped my mind. Is it the Select near Montparnasse?

Beatifull black and white, move and stop, positive and negative image.
It says lot about religion also: up and down, light and dark, save and convict.

Thank you Bea, I did not put all that into the drawing on purpose, but once you draw it it suddenly makes sense. You are right.

Yes, Rene, it is the one near Montparnasse. Next time you're around there, you should see if he's sketching.
